An unforgettable date: November 2, 2004 – An unforgettable month : November,  An unforgettable day: Tuesday, The  unforgettable news: the death of Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan

In November 2, 2004. We lost a leader, father and teacher. Sheikh Zayed still lives in our hearts and minds. He touched our lives and made us strong. His vision of a better world to live in inspired us and his legacy will be passed on in generations to come. Sheikh Khalifa continues Zayed’s legacy, we all have faith in him.

“Sheikh Zayed is in our hearts, he’s still alive,a leader forever”

The late Sheikh Zayed was admired by all of us he was a relatively simple man who guarded his people’s culture and traditions and presented a civilized image of the UAE to the rest of the world; he was the undisputed father of his nation. He was especially respected all over the world due to his pro-western stance, and his reputation as a moderate and gentle ruler.

Throughout history, few leaders can have experienced the amount of radical changes that Sheikh Zayed has witnessed. Fewer still could reflect on them in the knowledge that they chose and acted in accordance with their beliefs and for the betterment of humanity, regardless of personal cost, financial or otherwise. Sheikh Zayed has the love and admiration of his people and international recognition and respect, all of which he has earned many times over. On the 2nd of November Sheikh Zayed, the nation leader passed away, after a log journey of giving, achievements and development of people and land. In line of the his vision, the nation keeps going under the leadership of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the president of united Arab Emirates and the members of the Supreme Council of Rulers and their crown princess.

TWITTER OUTRAGE: Barasti Bar provoked outrage after sending out a text message promoting its Vanilla Ice night during the official mourning period for Sheikh Ahmed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. (ITP Images)

Dubai’s Barasti bar has been forced to cancel tonight’s planned Vanilla Ice concert after a deluge of criticism on social networking site Twitter.

The beach bar caused outrage after it sent out a text message to hundreds of regulars informing them that a concert featuring self-styled rapper Vanilla Ice would go ahead on Wednesday, despite the mourning period for Sheikh Ahmed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

Barasti Bar, at Dubai’s Le Meridien Mina Seyahi Hotel, sent an early-afternoon text message saying: “NORMAL OPERATION. WE ARE NOT DRY! NICE, NICE BABY! 5PM-3AM C U ON THE SAND”.

OUTRAGE !!! of course Emiratis will be outraged, offended, dishonoured and assaulted … Alot are not happy with canceling the event and alot say they have ZERO respect for such action, but we Emiratis are proud and support the action of canceling the event. Three days mourning wont kill anyone if they  don’t  party – It’s time for people to have respect to this country !!!!

Sheikh Ahmad is being buried now and all people are doing is disrespecting a decent action taken in respect to our rulers, country and people!!  UAE Tweeps, UAE people BIG respect to you all for the barasti event cancellation. Well done for standing up for what you thought was right, RIP Sheikh Ahmad.

RT @algergawi: Thank you all for RTing #barasti issue. This’s our city, written or not, we will preserve its social contract. #iamherebecauseilikedubai

You are in the UAE therefore you have to follow the rules of the UAE. Do we need to educate people to understand? Apologies and abide by the rules and act maturely! Give something in return RESPECT is not tooo much… The problem wasn’t the concert, it was the silly SMS and just to highlight something “you don’t have to know someone to mourn him or respect them”. Here in our society in the UAE we mourn in respect to our neighbors, friends, ect. its not that we mourn Sheikh Ahmad because he is the brother of the president only!!!
