Fujairah the “Lung of UAE”

Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum chaired on Monday in the presence of His Highness Sheikh Hamad Bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Fujairah, the joint meeting of the Federal Cabinet and chairmen of local departments.

During a tour of Fujairah Port Sheikh Mohammed was briefed by Sheikh Hamad on petroleum projects and infrastructure in place at the facility. The Fujairah Ruler also spoke about upcoming expansion plans at the port, including a project to build a pipeline to export crude oil. Sheikh Mohammed praised the development plans, describing the port as one of the country’s most important maritime facilities and gave the title of “The Lung of the UAE” to Fujairah.

Sheikh Mohammed said the meeting was part of national efforts to reinforce joint co-ordination and integration between federal entities and their local counterparts. He urged both federal and local officials to work as one team for the best service of their homeland and national higher objectives.

Sheikh Mohammad offers condolences

His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, offered his condolences to the family of the pilot Majid Ahmad Al Shamlan who was killed in the plane crash in Ras Al Khaima on Monday.

Referring to the man as a national and armed forces martyr, he also expressed his admiration for the youth of the UAE who perform their patriotic duties for the safety of the nation. The pilot’s family expressed their gratitude and respect for Shaikh Mohammad and thanked him his visit and kind condolences.

His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, urged members of the federal legislature to “listen to the people” and continue to cooperate with the government. When he opened the fifth session of the Federal National Council yesterday.

“Devote your time and energy to closely and continuously communicate with the people and listen to their day-to-day concerns and needs,” Shaikh Mohammad said as he inaugurated the fifth session of the FNC yesterday with a speech to the House, Crown Princes of the Emirates, top Army and government officials and diplomats.

Also, Shaikh Mohammad also called on the Council to continue to cooperate with the government for the good of the beloved homeland and its people. As well as urged the members of the chamber to air people’s concerns and try hard to find solutions and send viable recommendations to the government and follow implementation.

“As we open the FNC’s session today, we recall our forward march and cherish the memories of our forefathers who laid down the foundations of the UAE Federation,” Shaikh Mohammad said.

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai will open on Thursday the 5th ordinary session of the Federal National Council’s 14th legislative chapter. Their Highnesses the Crown Princes and Deputy Rulers of the emirates, ministers, members of the diplomatic corps, senior state officials and military officers will be present at the ceremony, which will include the opening remarks of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and a speech by FNC Speaker Abdul Aziz Abdullah Al Ghurair.

‘My Government’ Initiative

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai has launched “My Government” Initiative, an integrated portal to connect directly with clients dealing with the federal government entities.

The “My Government” Initiative aims to develop the provided services to ensure the federal government’s keenness to enhance its operational and service efficiency as one of the main pillars of 2011-2013 strategy and to improve the quality of life of UAE national and expatriates, according to UAE Vision 2021.

The launch of the portal comes within a new phase of developing federal government services and it includes five federal entities in its first phase which are Ministry of Labour, Federal Electricity & Water Authority (Fewa), Sheik Zayed Housing Program, National Transport Authority and Ministry of Interior represented by the Directorate General of Ajman Police.

Sheikh Mohammed tours Fujairah

The Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum visited here today the Centre for Rehabilitation of People with Special Needs of the Ministry of Social Affairs.

Sheikh Mohammed was accompanied during the tour by Dubai Crown Prince HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and a number of ministers. He met at the centre an Emirati a visually- impaired teacher at the centre who obtained a BA degree challenging her impairment. Salma Al Ka’abi, a teacher at the centre, who overcome her disability to obtain a degree. He commended Salma for the spirit of challenge and determination to pursue education and defeat her impairment to become a role model for ambitious young Emiratis who strive to be productive and effective members of the society.

“You set an example to be emulated by young Emiratis who must learn from you the determination and strong will to battle challenges if they wish to pursue education and achieve their goals in life,” Shaikh Mohammad told Salma.

Shaikh Mohammad also visited the Higher Colleges of Technology (HCT) for Girls, where he was received by Shaikh Nahyan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and HCT President, other officials and the teaching staff. He visited various sections and classes which accommodate1, 700 female students in various subjects.

Shaikh Mohammad attended part of a class and discussed the topic with students and listened to lectures by teachers.

He inaugurated the Arabic language website of the HCT in Fujairah and was briefed by a student on the college’s curriculum and education development plans. He met at the HCT building a number of students, who study at the newly created electronic engineering section. - [WAM]

Also, On a kind gesture, Shaikh Mohammad visited the house of Salma, the visually impaired teacher—37 years, who overcame her impairment and challenged her difficult conditions to achieve her dreams.

No challenge is too difficult for the UAE, Mohammad said

“The UAE, under the leadership of President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, is prosperous and so are its people, who are happy and proud of its leadership and its achievements in all walks of life,” Shaikh Mohammad told the media.

“A thousand difficult steps forward are better than one step back, and hence we are marching forward to improve the situation and make it better,” Shaikh Mohammad declared.

Sheikh Mohammed stressed that the people of the UAE, under the leadership of His Highness President Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler of Abu Dhabi, are happy with their leader and the country’s achievements in all sectors, saying that the people of the UAE are hardworking and capable of overcoming challenges no matter how big they are.
