Expelled because of Speech disorder

M.K., mother of a five-year-old child, said...

M.K., mother of a five-year-old child, said her son was expelled from a private school in Sharjah this September within two weeks of enrolling at the institution. While the mother claims her son only suffers from a mild speech disorder, the schools insists that he is a difficult child to handle in a mainstream school.

“My son is not special needs in the full sense of the term. I have medical records and certificates from experts to prove that he is fit to attend a normal school,” said M.K., a housewife from India.

However, a spokesperson of the school said they have a learning support department at the school, and that there are a number of special needs children already enrolled.

“We do not accept students only when we feel that we are not able to meet the child’s individual requirements. The parents of the child in point did not disclose any information about his needs in the admission form. Moreover, the support we are offering is limited at the moment,” the spokesperson said.

The school claimed that the teacher from the special care department observed the child for two weeks and found him to be unsettled, unsocial and unable to communicate or follow instructions.

“We felt that he needs intensive therapy and should seek professional help, which we are not able to provide,” said the spokesperson.

What is happening her c’mon. If he needs intensive therapy you refer him, help him nor EXPEL! This is just not acceptable! Should there be stricter consequences for schools that don’t provide inclusive education?

talk about the whole UAE as a country

“When I talk, I talk about Dubai,...

“When I talk, I talk about Dubai, but we have to talk about the whole UAE as a country. We do things in Abu Dhabi, we do things in Dubai, we do things in Sharjah. But the completion will be great for the UAE” – Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid

^^ This was said yesterday in an exclusive interview in Kentucky by Sheikh Mohammed. Hearing it continuously made me relate. Yes when I talk  I talk about Dubai, and when you talk you talk about Abu Dhabi, and when she talks she talks about Sharjah, and when he talk he talks about Ajman, and when they talk they talk about Fujairah. WE HAVE TO TALK ABOUT THE WHOLE UAE AS A COUNTRY!

How many time have you asked someone “Where are you from?” and this someone says “Umm AlQawain, Dubai, Sharjah … ” You know what is wrong with this answer? (you’ll say nothing) but there is something wrong .. You are from the UAE and You are an Emirati!

We are one country so we might as well act like it!

A Bus Overturns in Sharjah

A bus carrying Umrah pilgrims overturned and...

A bus carrying Umrah pilgrims overturned and skidded for a few metres on Al Wahda Road in Sharjah after it hit a road barrier, today morning (11.45am), and it has been reported that 20 passengers are injuired. The bus was on its way to Abu Dhabi and was carrying 45 pilgrims when the accident happened near the City Centre.

“The bus belonged to Al Ghazal Transport and was taking its passengers to Abu Dhabi. From there, the passengers were then supposed to ride another bus that would take them to Saudi Arabia so they could perform Umrah,” said Lt. Col. Bin Darwish.

Traffic was at a standstill as ambulances and Anjad patrols blocked the road to traffic in order to remove the bus from the road. Twenty passengers who suffered from minor injuries were then transferred to Kuwait Hospital for first aid.

“It took us nearly one hour to remove the bus and restore the flow of traffic, which was our priority because we did not want school children or residents coming home from work to get stuck in traffic,” said Col. Lt. Bin Dariwsh.

It has been pointed out that the accident was caused by excessive speeding. The bus driver passed King Faisal Bridge and when he tried to take a right turn towards Al Wahda Road, lost control of the steering wheel and crashed into the metal road barrier.
