Kuwait won the Gulf Cup Champion after beating Saudi Arabia 1/0 in the final match. It took 94 minutes for the Kuwaiti team to score the only goal in the match by Walid Ali in the over time. Both teams played good in defending their goals but Walid was able to score the only goal which was enough for them to get the trophy.



This is the first champion for Kuwait since 1998, and the 10th in total of Gulf Cup champions to maintain the most Gulf Cup country to win this tournament which started in 1970. It is a great achievement for the young team who faced a lot of struggles in the recent years and had some problems eternally where the FIFA banned them from playing internationally for some time last year.

Kuwait won everything in Gulf Cup 20. The Kuwaiti player Fahad Al Enezi won the Best Player of the tournament and Bader al Mutawaa scored the most goals, while Nawaf Al Khaldi won the best goal keeper of the Gulf Cup 20.

The biggest winner of the Gulf Cup 20 is Yemen Country. Everyone was pessimistic about holding Yemen the tournament due to safety reason. But Yemeni people showed how they can handle this big tournament professionally which was one of the best Gulf Cup tournaments recently.

UAE vs KSA

Ahmad Abbas gave Saudi national team the won to be in the Gulf Cup final after he scored the only goal in the game against UAE. Ahmad scored the only goal in minute 55 in the second half.
The game was bellow what was expected from both teams. They played very tactic match. Both teams were taking care of the defense to not receive any goals, that’s why there were few chances in the game specially in the fisrt half.
In the second half Ahmad Abbas gave Saudi team the lead, but UAE failed to come back to the game and Saudi team stopped all the attacks with a great defense. UAE couldn’t add anything against the closed game from KSA tell the end of the match.
KSA will play against Kuwait on Sunday 5th in May 22 Stadium at 9pm. It should be a great match to end the success tournament in Yemen for the first time.

Result: Yemen 0-2 Kuwait

Kuwait and KSA reached to the second round of Gulf Cup 20 after Kuwait won their match against Yemen 3/0 and KSA draw with Qatar 1/1. Kuwait finished in the first position of group one by 7 points, followed by KSA with 5 points, and Qatar in the third place by 4 points who failed to pass the group with Yemen.

Kuwait didn’t waste any time when they met Yemen in the last game of group one. Kuwait scored 2 goals in the first half by Jarah Al-Atieqi 18 and Bader Al Mutawa 33, which help them in controlling the match and get their chance to be in the second round. Kuwait again added one more goal in the second half by Bader Al Mutawa in minute 69, which gave them a position in the second round.

In the same time Qatar had to won their match again Saudi Arabia to step in the second round. The first half ended with no goal. But in the second half Qatar surprise every one by scoring the first goal by Ibrahim Al Ghanim in minute 85. But Qatari player Hamed Shami had to say his word after he scored on him own goal to change everything in the final minutes and finish the match with draw 1/1 which was enough for KSA to follow Kuwait to the second round.

Kuwait will play against second position in group B and KSA will play against first Position in group B.

Iraq vs Bahrain

Result: Iraq 3-2 Bahrain

In one of the best matches so far, Iraq won their second match against Bahrain 3/2 and placed in the first position of group B. Alaa Abdul-Zahra scored 2 goals (24, 57), and Hawar Mulla scored the 3rd goal for Iraq in minute 90, while Fauzi Mubarak 44 and Ismeal Abdulatif 94 scored for Bahrain.

The match was close to both teams to win. But Iraq plays more offensive and could score two goals in the second half after the match was tied 1/1. A goal for Bahrain was cancelled because of offside situation. Two penalties called in the match for each team.

Iraq now leading the group by 4 points and they need to win or draw in their last match to be in the next round. Bahrain also have their chance if their win against UAE in their next match.

UAE vs Oman

Result: UAE 0-0 Oman

UAE failed again to score any goal for second time after their draw 0/0 against the defending champion Oman. Both teams now have 2 points from 2 matches. They still have a chance to be in second round but they have to win their last match in the group next Monday.

Oman is in the 2nd place of group B with 2 points after Iraq who has 4 points. UAE with 2 points is in 3rd place followed by Bahrain in 4th position with only one point.

UAE will play against Bahrain and Iraq will play against Oman. UAE needs to win the match if they want to reach second round but Oman must tied or loss against Iraq. And if both teams win or tied in points, the team who scored better will pass to the next round. Bahrain also has their chance but they have to win and wait for the Oman and Iraq matches. All teams have different chances to be in the semifinal. The last round will be exciting for the fans to see who will go out and who will remain in the Cup.

Yemen vs Qatar

Qatar was near to be the first team leave the Gulf Cup 20, but their aggressive player changed the score from 0-1 for Yemen to win the game 2-1 after Jaralla Almarri scored two goals in minutes 35 and 55. Yemen who opened the score of the match by Akram Al-Warafi, scored in minute 18, became the first team to lose his chance to become in second round. After they got  zero point from two matches.

Qatar who has 3 points still have a chance to be in the second round but they have to win their last match against Kuwait in the last match of this group.

UAE Vs Iraq

UAE Goalie Majed Naser had a great match and helped UAE to draw with Iraq 0/0 in their first match in group B. Majed who saved a lot of Iraqi’s chances including a penalty kicked for Iraq in the last minutes of the match.

The first half of the match was below the expected from both teams. There was little number of chances with a few advances for Iraqi team who controlled the middle but they couldn’t score any goal. The second half started with Iraqi players continued to attacking UAE goads but with no score.

In minute 86 Emad Mohammad faild to score a penalty kicked which saved by UAE goalie Majed Naser to end the match 0/0 with one point for the both teams.
