Dress Code

My country (UAE) is generally conservative but tolerant when it comes to dress code. Men are not expected to wear tight or above knee shorts while women can’t be wearing sleeveless shirts or short tight skirts. Also, both men and women are advised not to wear excessively revealing clothing in public places, as a sign of respect for local culture and customs.

Most Emirati males prefer to wear a kandura, an ankle-length white shirt woven from wool or cotton, and most Emirati women wear an abaya, a black over-garment covering most parts of the body. This attire is particularly well-suited for the UAE’s hot and dry climate.
