Culture

My country has raised and expanded from its deep-rooted belief in Islam, which regulates and manage every activity and decision that is made in our daily life. We speak Arabic in UAE for it is the official language and English is widely spoken and understood too. Hospitality, generosity and respect are our important traits and characteristics which we have been taught from a young age. Adding to that ethics and good manners are the ground we stand on as Ali AlSaloom (Cultural ambassador of the Middle East) once stated.

We treat our visitors with generosity. But in return we expect them to respect local customs, especially religious practice and abide by the law of the land. Shaking hand is the normal greeting with a male, but it should never be assumed that a female will shake your hand which could lead to an awkward moment.  Females do shake hands with each other, and occasionally a  kiss is shared.
