It reminds me of the stories I hear about the time when everyone used to wear a kandoorah/thawb during the Andalusia era, or even generally before modern times, regardless of your country of origin etc. etc.
Right now the kandoorah symbolizes nothing but “THIS IS A LOCAL”, whereas it was a sign of unity and modesty before.
