The move is “considered the first of its kind offered to customers” and will help generate an additional source of revenue for taxi operators.Mini water coolers are set to be installed in Dubai taxis after a trial run, according to the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA). The Dubai Taxi Corporation (DTC) and RTA recently signed an agreement with Al Ain Mineral Water to supply and install the coolers in taxis. CEO Abdul Aziz Malek of DTC said there will be a three-month trial period using 350 taxis at the airport. All bottles of water sold through this service will bear the logo of the RTA and Dubai Taxi along with phone numbers for customer care service centres. It is said that the cost of the bottles would be added to the meter fare to avoid potential irregularities.
Water Coolers in Dubai Taxis
– September 19, 2010

This is a great initiative started by the RTA. Just only few concerned:
1. how frequently the water will be changed
2. how frequently the cooler will be cleaned
I personally believe that they should supply small water bottles so that the Hygiene Factor can be ruled out. The bill can be added in the fare at the end of journey.
Also if they will keep water cooler, then some amount of water is tend to drop on the floor mat causing the place unsuitable to sit, and the cad river has to clean it again and again.
What do you all think.
