UAE First Place and four gold medals in the 6th Arab Chemistry Olympiad

The four- member UAE national team (Noura Salim Al Yamahi from Tawaeen in Fujairah, Aisha Abdullah Al Tenaiji from Dhaid in Sharjah, Hamdan Yaqoob Al Hosany from Abu Dhabi and Omar Abdullah Al Habsi from Ras Al Khaimah) .had a dream win at the 6th Arab Chemistry Olympiad with all the four students representing the country bagging gold medals, propelling UAE to the top place in the competition which concluded on 3 August 2010. The UAE team displayed true mastery of the subject in laboratory as well as theoretical tests in the three- day event, taking the country to the top the medal chart with 16 points, followed by Palestine with 13 points and Saudi Arabia coming third with 11 points. The 6th Arab Chemistry Olympiad, held for the first time in the UAE, had 47 students from 13 Arab countries vying for the 5 gold, 10 silver and 15 bronze medals and accompanying cash awards.
“It is so great to have won a gold medal for the country and I would like to dedicate it to President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan. We are all so thrilled that our efforts helped the country win the event. The hard work that all of us put into this competition, including the six training camps and the final camp at the Etisalat Academy in Dubai, really helped us in the lab and theory tests,” said Noora, the top scorer in the competition.
