Argentina vs Nigeria

One of the favourites played yesterday and with the M and M show the Argentinians really have alot to be proud of. For years one could not ignore the sheer brilliance of Diego Armando Maradona arguably one if not the most gifted players to ever play the wonderful game. His character and persona are vibrant, loud and over the top to many but one cannot ignore that he was blessed with a talent that for years saw defenders try everything possible to stop his destiny. Encore Lionel Messi who is a World wide name and who many journalists and football managers consider not only the best player in the world but the best player to ever play the game. How ironic that his manager is the one person that overshadows him and the likes of PELE and Zidane. I believe that having watched Messi play live this year he is out of this world but in order to match his mentor Maradona and proclaim the title for “the best ever” he needs to win A WORLD CUP and develop his career by moving to another club in the future and demonstrate his brilliance just as Maradona did with Napoli in Italy. What is quite remarkable about Messi is his ability to make things look so easy at the age of 23.

A simple shrug of the shoulders and a smile after a moment of magic is all it takes to change any game and if he can replicate his form at Barcelona this year he outrageously has the ability to win this World Cup on his own. It will be up to Maradona to protect not only Messi but his fire tempered squad as they have in my opinion, the most threatening attack in the whole competition with stars like Tevez, Di maria, Higuain, Palermo and one of my personal favourite Kun Aguero. Maradonas prized Galacticos may not have produced the goal feast  the world was anticipating-but what an individual display of brilliance Messi displayed. Watching him it felt like at any moment he could step up an extra level. If it wasn’t for Nigerias Keeper Vincent Enyeama breathtaking saves it would have been a Basketball scoreline yet the Nigerians can be proud of a sturdy solid display maintaining their dignity. Verons Corner was met by the ex Manchester united defender Gabrial Heinze with a powerful header and how ironic for a defender to score with such an array of attacking talent.Johannesburg were entertained with Maradonas Men and a good start to the tournament for the extravagant manager who publicly stated that if His Argentina side won the World Cup he would run naked in the streets of Buenos Aires. Steady Diego the World is watching…… Argentina 1- Nigeria 0
